Chesapeake volunteers time, resources and contacts to our supported philanthropies. For over 7 years, we have invested our time where we can have the greatest impact and we are excited to support HarlemRBI and Innovation Africa. Our philanthropic activities keep us connected to the global community which diversifies our professional thinking.
HarlemRBI. Harlem RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) is a year round Harlem NYC based baseball oriented philanthropy. RBI provides academic, athletic and social programming to over 800 youth in East Harlem through its afterschool and summer programs and through RBI's new DREAM Charter School. During 2009, over 99% of HarlemRBI youth graduated from high school and 93% of HarlemRBI seniors were accepted to college.
Innovation Africa. Through Project Sol, Innovation Africa provides renewable technologies to power African villages. Project Sol provides power to medical clinics, schools and water systems in over 30 projects reaching over 100,000 people in Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania. Project Sol changes lives and supports microeconomic development as our systems provide the basis for entrepreneurial activity.
